Dr. Hutton  grew up outside of Elkton and was Valedictorian of her class at Bohemia Manor High School in Chesapeake City, MD.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Physics.  She received her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Pennsyvania College of Optometry in 1981.  After practicing for twelve years in Delaware, including gaining hospital privledges at the Dover AFB Hospital to serve as a civilian contractor, Dr Hutton began her private practice in her hometown of Elkton.  She has served as Secretary of the Delaware Optometric Association, was on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Cecil County, and served as Treasurer of the Elkton Lions Club.  Dr Hutton was awarded Lion of the Year by the Elkton Lions Club in 1998 and also received the Outstanding Service Award by the Rising Sun Lions Club in 2001 for her participation in childrens sight screening for early detection of strabismus and ambloypia.  She is an active member of the Olde Kent Quilters Guild and remains active with local Lions Clubs providing eye exams and glasses upon referral.
